Wind Turbine – Senate Inquiry

This inquiry is still receiving submissions. Matters and effects have been raised in the past, with a report made to CASA, which raises serious issues.

A submission by Jim Hutson, has some serious issues for aviation safety raised:

In February of this year, the NSW State Government rejected the development application for the Conroy’s Gap Wind near Yass New South Wales because of impacts to regional airports and airstrips. Had the same considerations applied to the Gullen Range Wind Farm vis-à-vis the Crookwell Aerodrome, the Gullen Range Wind Farm would never have been built.

The Gullen Range Wind Farm has had and will continue to have grave impacts on the aerial and aviation services available to the Crookwell District because of insensitive and obtuse planning decisions that violate not only common sense, but specific aspects of federal aviation law.

This is a serious issue and it would appear that there has been no proper”..safety case…” raised about the matter, despite serious concerns being raised over a lengthy period of time.

Other submissions can be found at: http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Wind_Turbines/Wind_Turbines/Submissions

Crookwell has been the centre of the problems with wind turbines for a period of time with issues raised including:

  • Infra-sound;
  • Access to airports;
  • Turbulence;
  • Interference to airspace;
  • other matters.
