Do other #aviation Investigators direct the regulator?

Do other #aviation Investigators direct the regulator? is a reasonable question.

This is particularly after the REX loss of propeller incident last week and the #Mildura incident – almost four years ago [when two 737 aircraft ended up at Mildura due to incorrect data being fed to the weather provider and the lack of information […]

#casa expectations by Minister Chester demonstrates his lack of #aviation knowledge

The Ministers “direction to the #casa Board is a joke and demonstrates his complete lack of understanding for #aviation.

The Statement of Expectations for the Board of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority for the Period 27 March 2017 to 30 June 2019 is attached below.

This statement has:

Has no KPIs; No deadlines; No specifics […]

Will #casa properly investigate the #airservices input into this incident??

The REX SAAB which lost a propeller at 00:46 UTC on a flight from YMAY to YSSY according to Flightradar24, went some 40NM north of YSSY before landing on 16R.

A PAN call from a professional crew stating that the aircraft had lost a propeller and there is a diversion by ATC over inhospitable tiger […]

#casa called out by NSW Coroner with defective regulations and processes

Serious concerns raised by NSW Coroner into how #casa carries out it’s approvals and deals with known safety matters.

Two pilots have died from this lack of regulatory control by #casa.

There are #SR’s issued by #atsb that are being ignored by #casa

Our sympathies go out to the Black family.

#atsb is on the nose according to #aopa_aus

#atsb is on the nose according to #aopa_aus, with failing to get it’s hands dirty and finish reports.

Classic is #pelair with the DIP’s [Directly Interested Parties] still to get the report. After the DIP get the initial report, another 30-days is allowed for DIP replies. Then #atsb get another try, so at least until […]

#casa castle at Avalon 2017

I was at Avalon last week and viewed the #casa castle.

Achieves the prize as the largest and tallest display in the pavilion. See the pics below. I think it would nudge 12 metres high.

At one stage there was a long line of people for the free cups of proper coffee being handed out […]

February 2017 #casa missive – toned down version??

Is this a toned down version following the previous, but no, more #adsb spin. Remember this is shifting #airservices expenditure requirements to the private sector, with few if any improvement to costs of GA in particular.

Dick Smith tells us that air services are not using the adsb system because staff are not yet trained. […]

Senate estimates 27th February 2017

One Nation, #aviation policy and James Ashby

One Nation, #aviation policy and James Ashby deserves some investigation as the industry approaches a critical point in it’s future.

The numbers in the Australian Senate are critical and the way #casa has upset so many people, many of whom have become One Nation supporters, deserves quick scrutiny.

Dick Smith was one of the […]

January missive by a/g ceo carmody – No progress

January missive by a/g ceo carmody

What a slap in the face to #aviation.

Skidmore never understood #aviation and the need to #saveGA., much less Mccormick.

The current #casa Board are allowing Carmody to run riot with the assistance, as Dick Smith points out, a group of incompetents.

#pelair, #colmarbrunton, Lockhart River and now the […]

#casa pursues Recreational pilot through the Tasmanian Court system

The Shayd Hector matter has reached a serious stage for a young man who has very serious personal obligations that have arisen since #casa charged him and brought Shayd before the Tasmanian Court system.

This was reported during 2016

Friday January 27, 2017 NSW pilot wanted […]

Atherton Aero Club monthly meeting

Pilot losses mount in Australia, which puts pressure on the provision of aviation services in the “bush” in particular to very remote areas.

A recent phone call to Charleville reveals there is only one charter operator west of Toowoomba. This situation extends into northern NSW as well.

All is not well for #aviation and we […]

Criminality and “Code of Conduct” – The #casa version

The letter by Richard Harding, emeritus professor of law in today’s Australian reminds us of a series of occurrences by #casa of movement from identified criminality to code of conduct breaches.

Richard Harding says: “….It should be remembered that the code of conduct cannot override the ordinary criminal law…..”

Examples include that of Richard Rudd, […]

The attached is the Creedy [Now mouthpiece for Air Services] version of the Truss “SafeSkies” conference in October 2013.

#casa December monthly missive

I attach the #casa monthly missive, but:

No mention of the real issues facing #aviation such as the catastrophic fall in pilot numbers or What is planned to turn around the #colmarbrunton report and The negative perception of #casa by the #aviation community.

Nothing at all for a good year Mr Carmody.

FAA and #casa use of the AC [Advisory Circular] process

Question is: Do Advisory Circulars improve knowledge or are these documents being used by #casa to “bash GA” as another tool for this purpose.

The easy comparison is the indexing system used by the #FAA, which starts at the Parts [see below, after you scroll through the #casa example], then directs [as a good index […]

#mh370 and #pelair insurance issues surface

The #pelair and #mh370 insurance have some similarities, as with the earlier Lockhart River where slow or devious payments occur with operators [and insurers] trying to limit liability.

Karen Casey has been appealed in the supreme court in NSW during November 2016.

No outcome until February 2017 [8 1/4 years later].

The #mh370 issue […]

#aopa press release on #aviation

Minister Chester fails to answer letter on #aviation

On 31st October 2016 I caused a letter to be sent to Minister Chester in the following terms. I have not had a response, in the normal typical fashion of the different Minister’s for Transport, to letters and e-mails.

Unanswered letter to the Minister is below:

Dear Mr. Chester; PO Box 486, Sale, VIC 3853 […]

#casa missive – November 2016 Camody

Carmody in his first “missive” says:

“…..I intend to lead CASA to be a firm, fair and balanced regulator. We need to get the right safety outcomes without unintended consequences, unreasonable requirements or unnecessary costs to the aviation community. It is not an easy balance to strike, yet that is our job. Of course, this […]

November 18th marks eighth year of #pelair problems

On November 18th 2009, and a Westwind became a short term floating wreck at Norfolk Island.

In 3-metre seas, in a dark part of the Pacific Ocean, six individuals combined to survive a ditching as the jet had run out of fuel and despite a number of attempts to land at the Norfolk Island strip, […]

#casa 2016 annual report released – but no fanfare

The 2015- 2016 #casa annual report was released last week [w/e 28th October 2016] and although a dry publication trying to dress up an old dog is worth ploughing through the droll 236 pages.

There is the usual misuse of statistics and the treatment of the #colmarbrunton report is hidden from the annual report and […]

FOI who disappeared in Quadrio’s case back in #casa

Yvette Lutz is back in #casa.

Although this FOI was tasked with a written statement, to damn John Quadrio, she did not appear in the AAT hearing. The statement was written by Moore, the investigator, not Lutz.

When referred to another FOI, that person said “I …can see nothing wrong in the video clip…”

#pelair update by #atsb

Finally an “official” update by #atsb on the new #pelair report. It has not yet been given to the directly interested parties (DIP’s).

That the #pelair debacle, created by #casa and #atsb separately and in concert, is deplorable and shows the contempt for those involved.

November 2009 was the date of the ditching and we […]

AOPA to meet with #casa on Class 2 AVMED issues

Good to see public progress of the #aopa case on serious and much needed changes to the AVMED system, which will assist a lot of pilots.

Among those present, there is no direct relationship with either the upper ranks of #casa nor the #avmed section either.

Hope they have a meeting with Carmody and Chester […]

September missive by #casa and goodbye Skidmore

This is Skidmore’s last misssive, and …goodbye…

[Remember, the missive only goes to around 7000 people and many of these only have an interest in #aviation, being on the “list”]

What has Skidmore brought us?

More regulation; No improvement of regs especially Part 61, which brings higher costs and no understanding improvements, despite Skidmore’s “Tiger […]

MH370 – Christine Negroni reports today

Flight #MH370 is still an enigma, with many theories rushing about where the aircraft may in fact be. There are many unexplained happenings, such as the ACARS turning off then re-appearing some hour later.

Why??

In today’s Australian, Christine Negroni explores an alternate thesis, which fits a reasonable and plausible synopsis.

The families of #MH370 […]
