#casa makes another loss in 2016 of over $6.7m

Two years in a row and #casa were given (for four years only) an increase of around $25m per year in 2010.

In the 2010 budget, some $89.9m over the next 4 years from a temporary increase in excise, which still has not been removed.

Mark Skidmore and John McCormick failed on that as well […]

#casa 2016 annual report released – but no fanfare

The 2015- 2016 #casa annual report was released last week [w/e 28th October 2016] and although a dry publication trying to dress up an old dog is worth ploughing through the droll 236 pages.

There is the usual misuse of statistics and the treatment of the #colmarbrunton report is hidden from the annual report and […]

AIC – Aviation Industry Consultative Council

Aviation Industry Consultative Council Membership list is below as downloaded today from the Infrastructure web site.

Attached below is a note from the last meeting of the AIC in January 2016.

The General Aviation Action Group [GAAG] is a sub-committee of the AICC. The GAAG is the group named by Minister Chester today (see below)

FOI who disappeared in Quadrio’s case back in #casa

Yvette Lutz is back in #casa.

Although this FOI was tasked with a written statement, to damn John Quadrio, she did not appear in the AAT hearing. The statement was written by Moore, the investigator, not Lutz.

When referred to another FOI, that person said “I …can see nothing wrong in the video clip…”

#airservices face new inquiry – #casa next??

The last two senates estimates hearings have put serious pressure on #casa, #airservices and #atsb.

There appears to be some sort of death wish of the leader via departmental head Mrdak and the individual semi autonomous government organisations.

The recent ANAO inquiry into #airservices certainly canned their method of “doing business”.

Yet Harefield in […]

Chopper in action at Ravenshoe

Wooroora Road Fire

Around 11th October 2016, a fire broke out after changed wind conditions and is suspected to be from a controlled burn about 15km south of Ravenshoe on the Wooroora Road. By Saturday, it was under control with just over 3000 hectares burnt.

Fire Controller, Bernard Grech of the Queensland Fire and Emergency […]

Coglan strikes again – Bad #casa witness in Quadrio affair

Coglan strikes again – The #casa witness in Quadrio affair, who gave, on his own statement, false statements about John Quadrio.

A similar situation occurred with Jack Pantovic last December 2015, when accusations were made that led to an AAT hearing in Cairns.

John lost his flying licence on this basis and #casa has […]

#pelair update by #atsb

Finally an “official” update by #atsb on the new #pelair report. It has not yet been given to the directly interested parties (DIP’s).

That the #pelair debacle, created by #casa and #atsb separately and in concert, is deplorable and shows the contempt for those involved.

November 2009 was the date of the ditching and we […]

Camit closes in Bundaberg

Another sad day for #aviation and no comment from the Minister.

Darren Chester MP @DarrenChesterMP Aviation manufacturer closure a sign of the times, industry insider says QLD Country HourBy Kallee Buchanan

#casa – Stop wasting #aviation industry money with discrepant data

Judith Sloane in The Australian today directs our attention to recent waste that Department’ never should allow to occur.

The community deserves better.

Let’s look at the regulator, #casa, who received a specific budget increase in 2010, under the Labor Party and @alboMP

The levy is still in place and continues to 2016, but […]

Has #casa improved since McCormick left Fort Fumble??

That is a serious question to be asked.

The May 2013 Estimates hearing is instructive [see below for Hansard extract] and as is now known, there was a seriously improper relationship between McCormick and the ICC. This relationship did not let proper investigation of complaints move forward and as a result, there are many […]

AOPA to meet with #casa on Class 2 AVMED issues

Good to see public progress of the #aopa case on serious and much needed changes to the AVMED system, which will assist a lot of pilots.

Among those present, there is no direct relationship with either the upper ranks of #casa nor the #avmed section either.

Hope they have a meeting with Carmody and Chester […]

September missive by #casa and goodbye Skidmore

This is Skidmore’s last misssive, and …goodbye…

[Remember, the missive only goes to around 7000 people and many of these only have an interest in #aviation, being on the “list”]

What has Skidmore brought us?

More regulation; No improvement of regs especially Part 61, which brings higher costs and no understanding improvements, despite Skidmore’s “Tiger […]

MH370 – Christine Negroni reports today

Flight #MH370 is still an enigma, with many theories rushing about where the aircraft may in fact be. There are many unexplained happenings, such as the ACARS turning off then re-appearing some hour later.

Why??

In today’s Australian, Christine Negroni explores an alternate thesis, which fits a reasonable and plausible synopsis.

The families of #MH370 […]
